The problem
An international system integrator and service provider reached out to us for a monitoring solution for centrifugal pumps. Their client, a water treatment plant in Ireland, had 13 dry-mounted split case pumps distributed across three locations linked by an ethernet network.
The system integrator wanted a solution that enabled them to monitor and adjust local alarms for each individual pump remotely and prevent cavitation and roller bearing failure.
The solution
We suggested a solution based on our advanced 1420 Vibration Monitor with two measuring points per pump, amounting to a total of 26 measuring points.
The four-channel PCH 1420 Vibration Monitor enables continuous pump condition monitoring with essential bearing fault detectors such as Envelope, Crest and Kurtosis vibration data, high-frequency acceleration monitoring, imbalance and misalignment detection, and local alarms. The client can easily adjust the alarm thresholds in the PCH 1420 vibration monitors.
The PCH EtherBridge Modbus TCP gateway uses the standard industrial Modbus TCP protocol to connect multiple Modbus TCP masters to a single PCH EtherBridge.
We collaborated with the local automation company to integrate the pump monitoring solution seamlessly with the client’s PAC and SCADA systems. The system is ready for future upgrades using the PCH EtherBridge OPC UA server.
The scope of supply:
- 8 PCH 1420 Vibration Monitors
- 3 PCH EtherBridge Modbus TCP gateways
- 26 CTC AC102 accelerometers with easy-mount studs MH143.
